Today, Amazon announced the latest generation of Alexa devices, each designed for Alexa+ and purpose-built for the moments and tasks customers turn to Alexa for most. Read on for a closer look at each.
Echo Dot: the most capable yet
The next-generation Echo Dot is designed for everywhere you can imagine and packs even more into its compact form factor. For the first time, it includes a built-in smart home hub, so Alexa connects to hundreds of compatible devices such as lights, locks, thermostats right out of the box, plus a built-in eero Wi-Fi extender that adds up to 93 square metres of coverage to your existing network. At its core is Amazon’s custom AZ3 silicon, with a new AI Accelerator built for on-device AI that sharpens conversational detection and filters out background noise. Music, audiobooks, and podcasts sound great on the new Echo Dot, with crisp vocals and 50% more bass than its predecessor.
The new Echo Dot ships today for RRP A$199. Ideal for any room in the house. For more information check out this page amazon.com.au/echodot.
Echo Studio with Home Camera: New visual intelligence on our most premium speaker
Echo Studio with Home Camera takes Amazon's best-sounding speaker and gives it a richer understanding of the room around it, making Alexa even more useful. The same powerful audio architecture is still at its core—a high-excursion woofer and Dolby Atmos filling the room with immersive spatial sound, now continuously tuned to your space with Advanced Room Adaptation. The camera enables a new Adaptive Volume feature that optimises playback as you move throughout the room. What's new is context: with more awareness of its surroundings, Alexa can help in real time —explaining the rules on a board game box you hold up, recognizing a box of cereal to help you reorder it, or letting you check in on the room from the Alexa app while you're away.
The new Echo Studio with Home Camera ships today for RRP A$479. For more information about the new Echo studio with Home Camera check out this page amazon.com.au/echostudiowithcamera.
Echo Time: the customisable smart clock, purpose-built for the bedside table
Echo Time is purpose-built for the bedside—with a customizable display and camera-free design to make waking up and winding down effortless. Make it yours with hundreds of clock face variations to choose from – including everything from analogue and modern to playful designs that fit any space and style. Its new sleep sensing technology, powered by Omnisense sensor fusion, can sense when you're in lighter sleep and wakes you within an optimal window ahead of your scheduled alarm. As your alarm approaches, the display gradually brightens to mimic a natural sunrise and the tone builds gently in volume to help ease you awake.
Available today for RRP A$379 in Coral Pink, Glacier White, and Graphite. For more information check out this page amazon.com.au/echotime.
Built with privacy in mind
Privacy is built into every Echo device from the ground up, and customers are in control of their experience. There are clear visual indicators when Alexa is listening, and a dedicated privacy button turns the microphones off completely. Sleep sensing capabilities can be turned on or off at any time via device settings in the Alexa app or by turning off the microphone using the mute button.
