What does it take to make a lasting difference in a community? Often, it starts with the people and organisations who know that community best.

This week, Amazon brought together more than 20 non-profit organisations, local council members, educators, and community leaders at Woodcroft Neighbourhood Centre in Blacktown, Western Sydney for Amazon’s first Community Collaborator Day in Australia.

It was an opportunity for us to recognise the people behind the organisations and collaborations that are making a difference in local communities and announce over AU$1million of new and ongoing community initiatives. From helping students discover careers in technology to providing meals for families that need it, these initiatives reflect Amazon’s commitment to being a good neighbour in the communities where we operate.

Supporting grassroots organisations to make a bigger impact

Amazon's Impact since 2025

Some of the most important work in our communities is carried out by small, local organisations. They understand the challenges that people face, but often need additional resources to expand their impact. That’s why we’ve established the Amazon in the Community Australia Fund, a new fund supporting non-profits across Sydney and Melbourne.

Administered by Myriad Australia, the fund will support projects focused on STEM education, local skills development, and hyperlocal social impact. It’s one way we’re helping local organisations turn great ideas into lasting benefits for the people they serve.

Regenerating the natural spaces our communities share

Healthy natural environments are an important part of thriving communities. We'll collaborate with the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife to help restore landscapes across Western Sydney, including areas affected by decades of environmental degradation. Over the next year, this collaboration will help restore six hectares of land through planting 9,000 native plants across priority sites, including the Gulguer Nature Reserve, the Nepean River floodplain, and Western Grassland Reserve. Seed collection is already underway so we can begin planting when the seasonal conditions are right. This is a hyperlocal effort to restore vegetation in the landscapes we share with the community.

Before lunchtime today, you probably used a data centre dozens of times. Sending a text, tapping your credit card, checking the weather, joining a video call, streaming music, or looking at your super balance.

Opening doors to the next generation of innovators

A young person’s interest in science or technology can begin with a single experience. A robot they build, a problem they solve, or a conversation with someone working in an industry they never imagined joining.

We’re launching Amazon RoboLeaders program, welcoming more than 500 Year 7 and 8 students from western Sydney to the first event in December. Students will have the opportunity to explore robotics through interactive exhibits, meet people working in the industry, and take part in workshops that build their skills and confidence.

And on 5 November, more than 1,000 girls from across Western Sydney will take part in Amazon’s Girls' Tech Day in Blacktown. This is the eighth Girls’ Tech Day we have hosted in Australia, part of a journey that has already inspired more than 4,000 girls in the field of technology.

Building on collaborations that are already making a difference

While we’re excited about what’s next, we’re equally proud of the collaborations that are already delivering results. Through our collaboration with Foodbank Victoria, we’ve helped provide the equivalent of 200,000 meals to more than 2,000 Community Market visitors facing food insecurity across Melbourne's west.

Our support has helped bring food closer to thousands of people who need it through pop-up markets, mobile supermarket buses, and warehouse volunteering. This work has helped ease the burden for thousands of individuals and families. We're continuing this work through 2026.

We’re also continuing our relationship with Eagles RAPS in Western Sydney, which has helped more than 150 young people earn IT qualifications since 2020. We’re renewing the program for another year, continuing to put local young Australians on a path to certification and employment.

Amazon is investing more than $400 million to create over 1,000 local jobs and expand capacity for customers and businesses across Australia.

In Melbourne’s west, our collaboration with Western Chances is now its fourth year, providing scholarships to 100 students each year, helping ensure financial barriers don’t stand in the way of education.

And finally, through Victoria University’s Wyndham Tech School, we’re helping students gain hands-on experience in robotics, STEM racing, and other technology fields. To date in 2026, this has reached over 1,000 students across five programs, with more opportunities planned for next year.

Here for the long term

Our first Community Collaborator Day was a chance to celebrate the people who help make our communities stronger. But it was also a reminder that meaningful community impact doesn’t happen through one event or one investment. It comes from showing up, listening to local needs, and building collaborations that grow stronger over time.

As Amazon continues to invest in Australia, we’re committed to growing alongside the communities where we operate, creating more opportunities for young people, supporting local organisations, and contributing to places people are proud to call home. Because being a good neighbour isn’t just about where we operate, it’s about the difference we make while we’re there.
