Prime Video announced today three new Australian Prime Original commissions, further reinforcing its commitment to Australian stories, talent and the local production industry. Since 2019, Prime Video has commissioned 34 Australian Prime Originals, with a growing slate spanning scripted series, documentaries, unscripted, comedy and sports storytelling.
From investigative deep-dives into headline-making cases, to following Australia's elite athletes, the selection reflects Prime Video's ongoing investment in authentic Australian storytelling for its growing Australian audience.

Free Spirits: The Backpacker Poisonings (working title) (Docuseries)
In late 2024, eight young backpackers from around the world including two Australians set off on the adventure of a lifetime through Southeast Asia, chasing freedom, friendship, and self-discovery. They documented everything on their phones: chaotic bus rides, late-night laughs, voice notes home, and joyful selfies. But after a night out in Laos, everything changed. Today, six are dead. Of the two who survived, one was left permanently blind. Told through the backpackers' own footage, final messages, and intimate testimony from the survivor and the victims' families, this three-part docuseries reconstructs the events leading up to the tragedy and the search for answers that followed. More than an investigation, it is a powerful coming-of-age story that serves as a cautionary tale about youth, risk, and the pursuit of adventure in an unpredictable world. Madness of Three (Docuseries)
Madness of Three unpacks the shocking 2022 murders in Wieambilla, Queensland, when three locals, two of them former teachers, left two police officers and an innocent neighbour dead. With unprecedented and exclusive access, the five-part docuseries explores the conspiracy, delusion and online influence that drove Nathaniel, Stacey and Gareth Train to violence and asks how is it possible to go down the rabbit hole and never come back. Madness of Three is produced by Blackfella Films for Amazon MGM Studios and will stream globally on Prime Video.
The Test Season Four (Docuseries)
Prime Video Australia’s most successful sports docuseries franchise, The Test, returns for its fourth season as the Australian Men’s Test team face some of their greatest challenges including their return to South Africa, a full five-Test series in India, the 150th Anniversary Test and the 2027 Ashes. As legends seek to enhance their legacy and selectors anoint the next generation, the team begins to confront how an era will be defined and the impact it will leave. The Test Season Four is produced by Cricket Australia, Whooshka Media and Amazon MGM Studios and will stream globally on Prime Video.
Launching from 2027, these new commissions join a growing roster of acclaimed Australian Prime Originals including award-winning series, The Narrow Road to the Deep North, Deadloch Season One & Two, and Top End Bub, as well as popular sports documentaries Final Siren: Inside the AFL and The Test Season One-Three, which have resonated with audiences both in Australia and around the world.
