“I have recently started doing Brazilian jujitsu—mainly so I can keep up with my three boys," said Yvonne, Environmental and Work, Health, and Safety coordinator at Amazon's Perth Fulfilment Centre. "They started Brazilian jujitsu about six months ago and I thought, hang on a minute these boys are going to be bigger than me soon. I still need to show them who’s boss!”

“Outside of Amazon, I try to spend as much as I can with the children, whether it's going to the beach, the water park or playing laser tag, bowling, all that sort of stuff we do as a family.”

“My favourite place on earth would be Adventure World, because it has all the rides! It's just a fun activity for the family.”

For Yvonne, when she’s not spending time with husband and three boys, she’s spending time with her ‘work family’ at Amazon’s Perth fulfilment centre where she was recently promoted to the role of Environment and Work Health and Safety Coordinator.

“The thing I love most about working at Amazon is the atmosphere and the environment that I get to work in. It’s really engaging and the people are great. When I go to work, it's like meeting my second family.”

“My day-to-day involves walking around, talking to the team, and engaging with them to ensure they understand and are adhering to our health and safety practices, and hearing their feedback and ideas; because we care about the team and prioritise their safety above all else.”

“Amazon's culture is very encouraging. We want our staff to do well. And if our staff do well, our customers also get a better service.

For Yvonne work life balance is important. “Working at Amazon I find I have more time to spend with my family. It's a lot easier to have that work life balance and I love it.”
