The 2024 AACTA Awards nominations have been announced and Prime Video has secured 24 nominations in total – a record for the streaming service in Australia. Among the productions with the most nominations this year are Australian Amazon Originals The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart with 12 nominations and Deadloch with ten nominations.
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is nominated for Best Miniseries, with Sigourney Weaver securing a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Drama. Alycia Debnam-Carter and Leah Purcell are both up for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for their roles in the series. Other nominations for the show include Best Cinematography in Television, Best Direction in Drama or Comedy, Best Casting in Television, Best Editing in Television, Best Production Design in Television, Best Hair and Makeup and Best Sound in Television.
Deadloch secured a nomination for Best Narrative Comedy Series and both Kate Box and Nina Oyama are nominated for Best Acting in a Comedy. The Two Kate’s - Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan - received a nomination for Best Screenplay in Television. Other nominations for the series include Best Cinematography in Television, Best Direction in Drama or Comedy, Best Casting in Television, Best Editing in Television, Best Original Score in Television and Best Production Design in Television.
Both The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and Deadloch have garnered significant local and international success this year. The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart is Prime Video’s most successful Australian Original ever and reached the Top 5 in 78 countries on its opening weekend in August. Meanwhile Deadloch has reached the Top Ten (TV Shows) in more that 165 countries since launching in June. Both shows are Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.
Comedy specials Rhys Nicholson’s Big Queer Comedy Concert and Lizzy Hoo: Hoo Cares? also received nominations. The Australian Amazon Originals both in the running for Best Stand-Up Special.
The AACTA Awards recognise excellence in the film and television industry, both locally and internationally. The AACTA Awards Ceremony will be held on Saturday 10 February on the Gold Coast and the AACTA Industry Awards will be earlier in the week on Thursday 8 February.
