Meet the Sellers

Slick Daddy – Byron Bay, NSW

Slick Daddy is a Byron Bay-based small business that produces natural and organic grooming and sun protection products.

Leaving a corporate job in Melbourne behind, Slick Daddy owner Andrew Feyen, says the company has become a labour of love, and in creating the product he experimented with a wide range of natural ingredients in order to finally produce what he believes to be a great range, including one of the best beard oil products on the market.

Andrew says that events of 2020 have had a huge impact on his business. Like many others in Byron Bay, he relies on the tourism trade that runs through the town to buy his products from local stores and markets. With tourism traffic dropping earlier in the year due to the bushfire crisis, it’s now non-existent due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Andrew is currently investing his time connecting with customers online and is looking forward to Byron Bay being able to welcome tourists once again.

Trieste & Co. – Melbourne, VIC

Trieste & Co. is a small, Australian-owned business that exclusively manufactures and sells the Memory Mate® brand in Australia. Products manufactured and sold by Trieste & Co. include memory foam travel cushions and seat cushions.

Founded by Melbourne-based Karin Nisbet, she launched Trieste & Co. after working in the airline industry for 18 years and sought a career change. The prospect of being her own boss was very appealing, and after researching various pathways, Karen undertook an e-commerce course. A module in this course was selling on Amazon and this struck Karen as a viable business model for her new venture. She began selling on Amazon Australia in 2018 and it’s currently the only place she sells her products, with expansion plans into other markets pegged for the future.

However, like many others, 2020 has been a difficult year for Trieste & Co. Karin experienced closure of her supplier’s manufacturing facilities for the majority of February which resulted in a series of domino affects causing major disruptions to her supply chain.

Check out Trieste & Co. in our Shop Local store if you’re looking for high-quality ergonomics products which are perfect for use in the home or for travel.
