Today we announced the opening of our first robotics fulfilment centre (FC) in Australia at Goodman’s Oakdale West Estate in Western Sydney, creating 1,500 jobs with the opportunity to work alongside advanced robotics.
Totalling around 200,000 square metres across four levels and housing up to 11 million items, the fulfilment centre will be equipped with the most advanced Amazon Robotics technology. This technology will better assist employees and serve customers, contributing to the company’s efforts to deliver a smarter, faster and more consistent experience for its customers around Australia.
Humans collaborate with robots to drive efficiency
Robots will work alongside associates to speed up processing time, offering a diverse range of job opportunities in a high-tech, industry-leading workplace ranging from IT, HR and robotic professionals, to associates who will work collaboratively with robots to pick, pack and ship smaller items.
“The Amazon Robotics fulfilment centre will more than double our operational footprint in Australia, enhance efficiency and safety for our associates while ultimately providing customers with wider selection and faster delivery,” said Craig Fuller, Director of Operations, Amazon Australia.

This investment will also benefit the 10,000 plus small & medium sized businesses who utilise Fulfilment By Amazon to seamlessly service customers across the country,” continued Craig.
Attending the official launch of our new Amazon Robotics FC, The Premier of New South Wales, Gladys Berejiklian, said: “The NSW Government is driving job creation, infrastructure and investment in Western Sydney. Amazon’s decision to locate the first Amazon Robotics Fulfilment Centre in the South Hemisphere here is testament to our commitment to provide job opportunities.”

Works on the new facility will support more than 700 construction jobs over the development and fit-out phase, set to be operational by Christmas 2021.
