Amazon Australia announced plans to onboard 850 seasonal workers across its Australia fulfilment centres and logistics sites around the country, ahead of Prime Day this July, one of the most anticipated shopping events of the year.
The seasonal positions will see new team members help pick, pack and ship orders for customers around the country, keeping deliveries moving during the sales season – including the annual Prime member-exclusive sale event. Opportunities are now available across sites in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, and WA, and no previous experience is required.
Michelle Theophilou, Senior HR Manager, Amazon Australia said, “During Prime Day, our sites are buzzing with excitement. We provide all training on-site, so no experience is required, and over the years we’ve welcomed many people who have never set foot in a warehouse before. All we’re looking for is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. For many, what has started as a seasonal role has become the beginning of a long-term career at Amazon.”
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual Prime membership-exclusive shopping event, offering discounts exclusively for Prime members on a huge range of products from everyday essentials to big-brand electronics, appliances, books, clothing, toys, homewares and more.
Arno Lenior, APAC Director of Prime, Amazon Australia said, “Prime Day returns this July, and members will be able to access epic deals on a huge range of products during the sales event, on top of the benefits they already enjoy every day like fast, free delivery, Prime Video, Amazon Music and two years of the DoorDash DashPass. At a time when Australians are looking to make every dollar count, Prime delivers more value than ever.”
For many seasonal workers, a short-term role at Amazon has been the first step towards a permanent career. Permanent roles offer employee benefits including subsidised health insurance for the entire family, free life insurance, up to 20 weeks parental leave pay for full-time associates and a free Amazon Prime membership. Amazon associate Maria Ratai started off as a seasonal worker in 2019, before accepting a permanent position and progressing to Area Manager, leading a team of 40 across Amazon’s operational network.
Maria said, “I came into Amazon with no experience at all – it was meant to be a casual gig while I was studying to be a pastry chef. But the training was so good, and the environment was so supportive that I stayed, and I kept growing. Now I am an Area Manager overseeing up to 40 people per day, making sure everything is safe and running well on shift. Amazon has given me leadership training, real responsibility and a career I am genuinely proud of.”
