Prime members in Canberra can now order from over a million products as late as 11 a.m. and have them delivered before 10 p.m. that same day.
What's eligible for Same-Day Delivery
A huge selection of products across categories—including everyday essentials, small appliances and electronics, home and kitchen, beauty, books, toys, clothes, shoes and more—are now eligible for Same-Day Delivery. To find eligible items, Prime members can look for the "Prime delivery Today by 10pm" or "Prime Free Same-Day" badge on product detail pages on the Amazon app or website.
Matt Benham, Country Manager for Amazon Australia, said, "Speed and convenience are at the heart of our delivery investment in Australia, and we're excited to bring free same-day delivery to Canberra. We're seeing more demand from customers for fast, convenient delivery options that fit within their busy lives."
"For Prime members in Canberra, we're now delivering the products they want and need faster than ever—as quickly as the same evening. Whether it's a new kitchen appliance, a set of headphones for your commute, or a present for a last-minute kid's birthday party, we've got you covered."
Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Prime Free Same-Day Delivery and One-Day Delivery, giving more Australian Prime members access to more products, faster. Prime members outside Same-Day or One-Day eligible locations can still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders.
Amazon's continued investment in Australia
In 2025, Amazon Australia delivered at its fastest speeds ever for Prime members and significantly expanded its operations network. Between 2024 and 2027, Amazon Australia will have invested $1.6 billion opening five new operational sites, creating an additional 4,500 jobs once fully operational. In 2025 alone, Amazon Australia created more than 1,500 permanent roles across its operational network. Amazon Australia now has eight fulfilment centres and 12 logistics sites.
Since 2011, Amazon has invested more than $35 billion across all its businesses in Australia. This means more customers around the country can access an enhanced delivery experience, including faster delivery, evening and weekend delivery, and reattempted deliveries when they're not home.
Faster delivery for selling partners
Faster delivery options like Same-Day Delivery also help selling partners get their products to more customers, fast. Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) enables third-party sellers to make the most of Amazon's advanced logistics network—Amazon stores, picks, packs and ships orders, and handles customer service, returns and refunds on behalf of the seller. All FBA products are eligible for Prime delivery, meaning selling partners may see their products delivered to Prime members in Sydney, Perth and Canberra the very same day.
According to Mandala Partners research, businesses gained $1.4 billion in sales revenue from faster business-to-customer deliveries over the past decade. Combined with the potential to save $400 million through swifter access to inventory, Australian businesses stand to unlock $1.8 billion of value thanks to fast delivery.
Local businesses benefiting from fast delivery
Since joining amazon.com.au in late 2024, Canberra small business Barbell Foods has grown its online sales of air-dried steak biltong by connecting with a wider range of Australians. Ashley Laing, marketing manager at Barbell, said, "Speed matters to today's shoppers, and knowing that locals can now order our products before breakfast and have them by dinner is awesome."
In April 2026, Amazon launched fresh groceries in Canberra through its partnership with family-owned Harris Farm Markets. Customers in more than 50 suburbs across Canberra can shop thousands of products—including seasonal fruit and veg, quality meats and specialty products—with same and next-day delivery via amazon.com.au.
