Amazon Australia is expanding its Prime Free Same-Day delivery across the country to offer shorter, more specific delivery windows on a huge selection of eligible products. Three delivery windows - overnight, afternoon Same-Day, and evening Same-Day - are now available in four cities nationally: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
That means Prime members can order before bed (10pm) and have them waiting at the door before 8am, order before breakfast and have it by the afternoon, or order at lunch and have it by the evening. Read on to learn how it works and other details you should know before you place your order.
How the new windows work
Hundreds of thousands of products across Amazon including everyday essentials, small appliances and electronics, home and kitchen, beauty, books, toys, clothes, shoes are eligible for Same-Day delivery.
To find eligible items, look for Prime delivery and available time slots on product detail pages in the Amazon app or on Amazon.com.au:
- Overnight delivery — "Get it overnight" or "Get it tomorrow by 8am." Order by 10pm and it's at your door between 4am and 8am, ready before work or the school run. Overnight deliveries are left quietly at your designated safe location, so you can wake up to your order without being disturbed.
- Afternoon same-day delivery — "Fastest delivery: today" or "Get it today by 6pm." Order by 8am and receive it between 2pm and 6pm.
- Evening same-day delivery — "Get it today by 10pm." Order by noon and receive it between 5pm and 10pm.
Is Same-Day delivery free?
For Prime members Same-Day delivery is free on eligible orders over $49. If you’re not a Prime member and are located in one of these four cities you can still choose Same-Day Delivery for a $12.99 fee, regardless of order value.
What about delivery for locations outside of these four cities?
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth can access multiple Same-Day delivery windows. Prime members in Canberra, Geelong, Newcastle and the Central Coast can also benefit from Same-Day delivery and order as late as 11am for delivery before 10pm the very same day.
Seven out of ten (72%) Australians can now access free next-day delivery — or faster — with Amazon Prime. One-day delivery is available in 12 locations nationally, and Prime members everywhere else benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days.
Amazon Australia aims to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Amazon’s Prime Free Same-Day Delivery and One-Day Delivery, to provide more Australian Prime members access to even more products, faster. Prime members outside of Same-Day or One-Day eligible locations can still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders.
